AMANDA WAKELEY AUTUMN WINTER LFW PRESENTATION 2017

"Born of French and Japanese descent, the Wakeley woman's style is distinctly Parisian.
She translates rich, cultural references of her Japanese heritage into a sophisticated eclecticism whilst drawing influence from the indigenous Ainu tribe whose storied culture has captivated her,"

Amanda Wakeley

This is the captivating description of the inspiration behind the new Amanda Wakeley collection for A/W 2017.

First of all, I have to apologise for not doing this blog post earlier, but there was alot going on, and to be honest I didn't want to rush it.

I haven't been blogging for very long so my plan was to work my butt off for at least one year before I tried to approach any designers etc to attend fashion week.

Before I even carry on, let me tell you a little bit about my background. You probably already know that I used to work in the fashion industry as a garment technologist.

I started off working for ASOS and from there went on to do short term contracts and temping roles for other brands such as, Allsaints, Whistles, Topshop and Ted Baker. Although these are all quite big high street brands, the desire was always to go into high end fashion. I had been studying fashion prior and during the time of me working these jobs and although I love the convenience of high street fashion, I've always had a passion for couture and ready-to-wear. The depth of design, intricate manufacturing and hand finishing that goes into every piece literally sends chills up my spine. It's what I feel I was made to be a part of. Whether making it or wearing it.

From luxurious fabrics, exclusive button detailing all the way down to specific stitch types. I love it all.

Prior to me going on maternity leave, I had interviewed to work for Amanda Wakeley, Net-a-Porter and Victoria Beckham, and although I was close to being hired each time, I always lost out for not having the luxury experience.

Anyway, I wanted to share that with you so you can understand my excitement at being invited to this presentation.

I kept looking at the email thinking it was a dream...

The Albemarle Street, flagship store is absolutely beautiful in itself.

I was met at the door by the lovely PR Manager Joana, who took me through the showroom to look at the pieces that made up the collection. Honestly, as much as these press photos are amazing, they don't do the details of the garments any justice. The textures, the fabrics and prints were truly extraordinary, and what I found even more amazing was that you could see the inspiration for the collection all the way through before even knowing what inspired it.

The kimono type jackets, sleeves, and sashes with a mix of beautiful bows and midnight blues. Honestly, the detail in that collection took me back to the days in my uni atelier and made me miss creating such artwork myself.

My favourite pieces were the wide leg trousers. Some were a rich velvet and others featured a laser detail of small flattering circles.

I also loved the lace tops and the pieces in rich midnight blue. You guys already know that's my favourite colour. [swoon]

After looking in detail at all the pieces on display, I was also lucky enough to go up the seemingly enchanted steps to see the Amanda Wakeley collection of bags.

They were all amazing and I really wish I could have afforded to take one home. Especially the mini bags which seem to be the style of the season.

I'll post two photos of my favourite combinations from autumn and winter each which I hope you can appreciate with me, and hopefully if all goes well this year, I can attend some really good shows next year.

Thank you Amanda Wakeley
