OK, I realise I've missed the boat big time on this one and I'm sorry.

In all honesty, I had prepped this blog post a long time ago, but life, as it does finds a way of getting in the way.

I've also been missing on my youtube channel for a few weeks as well but if you click here you can watch my latest video updating you and hopefully, my reasons for this blog post will make even more sense

Anyway. FENTY beauty.

Where do I even start?

If you don't know about the new beauty range on the market front lined and created by Rihanna you'd have to be living under a rock, but I'm sure you know that quite literally, the makeup line has taken the whole world by storm.

"Can someone say Umbrella?"

Every day since the launch, I've seen advert after advert, video after video, and review after review. And if I'm honest it's been for good reason.

These are the main launch features taken from the site:

Not to mention the fact that the foundation itself comes in forty. You heard me. forty shades.

For a completely new beauty brand to launch with this much product is incredible and the one thing I keep hearing is that everybody feels included. From the palest of pales to the darkest darks.

For such a long time it has seemed as though if you're a little off the 'standard' colour, you're just left out.

Majority of mainstream brands have and have had the resources as well as the finances to bring what FENTY brought in terms of shades but they seem to be making enough not to care whether all women feel included or not.

But let's not even go there...

Another thing, as a creative I love, is the presentation and packaging.

It just looks so on point and eye-catching. I especially love the brushes.

Everything about the brand is makeup goals...

IF IT'S NOT ORGANIC...

But I'm not going to be buying it and if you allow me five minutes of your time I'll tell you why.

I know I still need to update you guys properly on the blog but like I explained in my last post here, I've embarked on a complete overhaul of my food and skincare.

Almost everything I eat and use has to be natural and or organic and it all started after reading the Maker's Diet.

I was recommended the book by a friend after speaking to her about wanting to improve my diet as I had been on and off healthy eating and what type of eater category I should be in for years, and the amount of conflicting information can be so overwhelming.

As a Christian, the easiest way to navigate through these things is to go back to the bible and see how it lines up with scripture before I accept it as truth. Reason being it's so easy for wrong information to look and sound truthful.

Anyway, the Maker's Diet is written by a fellow believer who was on the brink of death with various health issues until he decided to eat and live how our Maker intended. Since adopting the Makers diet he has since recovered completely even though, according to doctors he had seen previously, he should have been dead a long time ago.

Since reading the book, I've done what I can to apply this to my own life in regards to food and personal hygiene and upon doing more research beyond the book I extended it to cosmetics and here are a few reasons why,"

1. Your skin is your first line of defense and although it is there to protect your body from infection and the environment it is also permeable. Everything you apply to your skin is absorbed into your bloodstream by up to 80%. Although the many toxic chemicals found in cosmetics don't show obvious signs of toxicity straight away, the toxins still build up underneath through repeated use.

This may not seem like a big deal but think about the fact that a lot of medications are becoming topically applied through transdermal skin patches and said to be 95% effective. If that's the absorption rate for one application. Imagine using toxic creams and cosmetics continually and over long periods of time.

2. Some of the chemicals in cosmetics today are highly toxic and have been proven to be carcinogens and/or endocrine and hormone disrupters. This means that the products you use could be contributing to the health issues you currently have or are accelerating your chances of getting cancer.

3. I feel a sense of betrayal from mainstream cosmetic companies because they know full well the ingredients they use are harmful in some way and rather than change them and source natural and non-harmful ingredients. For the simple reason, it's cheaper to use chemicals, that's what they do.

They have no interest in mine or your health. Their interest is in their profits. So money will get spent on advertising, packaging, and promotion but very little is spent on making the product safer for you and me to use.

Can anybody say, Johnson and Johnson?

I don't know about you but I refuse to fill some fat cats pockets at the expense of my own health.

"Does anyone see the irony that a lot of these companies bang about

banning animal testing but in the same breath they're

destroying our health with their products?"

This post is already becoming a bit lengthy so I'll do another one in regards to toxic ingredients and what to look out for, but when it comes to me and my make up? As gorgeous and as innovative FENTY beauty is. I have to say Goodbye.

You raise very good points, and you are absolutely right in regards to absorption of products into the blood stream. As a nurse and knowing what happens at a cellular level or physiologically with topically products I should probably know better. I am guilty of not even considering this on my quest for beauty. Great post. Would love to see a post re your ideal makeup products. X
